This is a hand-carved, hand-painted Tibetan wooden mask.  It is a wrathful deity of the Bardo, the intermediary phase between death and rebirth.  Tibetans hang these masks in their home as a form of protection and to accustom Buddhist practitioners to the fearful images they will encounter at the moment of death.  Available in Red.
